2008 will fascinate!

Published by Calley at 10:04 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

Well I thought about crawling back into my little turtle shell to hibernate and never show my face again, but Andrew told me to keep writing, so I will. I guess I was wrong. There are two readers of my jabberwocky. Two is better then one and one is better then none. Hmmm…I just finished my first week of classes in the new semester and I’m already waiting for May. Although, I do think that I will enjoy my photography class. It seems like it will be an experience. The teacher asked us to think about what it is about photography that interests us and after thinking about it for awhile I have come to the conclusion that I like it because photographs allow memories to last and photography is one way that we can capture God’s beauty. He shows himself to me through his nature. He speaks to me through sunflowers growing in the pavement along the highway, imaginative cloud formations floating in the sky, colorful flowers, mighty mountains, deep bodies of water, etc. I especially love taking pictures of the sun because it reminds me of his presence. Every time I see the sun or feel it’s warmth I am reminded of the fact that he is here with me wherever I go just like the sun. Even on the days when the sun doesn’t shine or it is hiding behind the clouds I know that it/he is still here. We can never run from his light once we have truly seen it and gotten a good taste, because we will never want to go back. It draws me in and I keep coming back thirsty for more. I don’t need the sun to tell me that he’s here because it is on the cloudy days that I learn how to recognize his presence regardless of the circumstance. It’s amazing how we can really get to know who he is by simply stepping outside and looking at his beauty that surrounds us daily.
I would hardly consider what your about to read a poem, but I don’t really know what else to call it. It’s just a bunch of rhyming words that attempt to describe my dreams and desires for 2008.
I’ve always had the desire to learn how to write poetry, but I don’t even know where to begin. How does one teach themselves how to write poetry? Anyways, read it if you dare!

2008 will fascinate!
This is the year that I will dominate and it’s going to be great!
Allow me to elaborate…
Throughout the year I plan to punctuate and probably even decorate.
I’m going to take a train and leave the state, to visit an old classmate.
I might even get to see Kate!
I can’t wait! I’m sure you can relate.
I’m sure that I will watch several more cups of coffee percolate.
Hopefully I won’t do anything that will cause me to have to face an inmate.
I probably should lock myself in a crate to isolate myself from those that I irritate.
I refuse to allow myself to hate.
I desperately need to renovate.
I long for him to illuminate my shadows.
I need to allow his light to penetrate and permeate within me.
The good he will create. The good I will infiltrate. The bad I will eliminate.
With my funky schedule I just might vegetate and possibly deteriorate.
And because I will never be underweight, I must lose weight and not fluctuate.
Who knows? Maybe this will be the year I find my mate, get married, and rock out to some Michael Tait while we consummate. What if his name is Nate? He better not be late for our date at eight.
Isn’t this a crazy way to communicate?
After writing this poem, I think I will need some time to recuperate and perhaps medicate.
Watch me evacuate!

Happy New Year to you all!

Tip of the Day: Have some fun in the sun!
