Nostalgic Memories
My brain has been filled with so many nostalgic memories lately. I recently came across the word ‘nostalgic’ and I wasn’t quite sure what it meant, but now I know and I think it fits well with my memories. Last week I had a storm day. It was my day off from work and I couldn’t get out of the yard due to the snow storm the night before (oh the benefits of living out in the middle of no where without a tractor) so needless to say I had a wonderful day free of responsibilities all to myself. It was great. The snow filled roads reminded me of my childhood. Having memories of my childhod sure makes me feel old. When my brother and I were younger and we couldn’t get to school because the snow bus couldn’t get into the yard because of all the snow plugging up the roads my Grandpa would come with his big olive green coloured car and he would drive as far as he could without getting stuck. Then my Mom would walk with Cole and I through the snow, while pulling a sled with our backpacks on it, to where my Grandpa was and he would drive us to town from there. I’m sure back then it seemed like we were walking for miles and miles. Getting to school was an adventure. If I could I would walk for miles and miles of snow all over again to get to the end and find my Grandpa waiting for me in a warm car, I would. My Grandpa was a great man. Whenever you needed help, he was just a phone call away. I don’t ever remember him telling me that he was unable to help me or that he didn’t have the time. He was always there. He had a servants heart! He served his family, his community, and his country. We can all learn from him and his life spent serving others.
Here’s a video I made. It’s pretty funny I think. I recently discovered this Windows Movie Maker program on my computer that I didn’t even know exsisted until now. It’s pretty cool for making slide shows and what not and you can add sound clips and everything. I’m going to have tons of fun experimenting with it during Christmas break.
Let my shadows prove the sunshine!
Tip of the Day: Don’t be afraid of the shadows!
